Note that when you open GridTracks, you will be greeted with this navigation menu on your left-hand side. You will have access to the Home, Accounts, Journal, Summary Data, and Settings pages. Click on the links in the previous line for more details.

Note that the titlebar also contains Undo/Redo, Cut-Copy-Paste, Save, Save As…, Export to Excel, and a Feedback Button on the top-right corner.

Quick Start Instructions

More on each page:

Note that if this is the first time using the app, I recommmend starting with the Accounts page, as you must first create accounts before you can add anything to the General Journal. Of course, after that you should check out how to use add/edit transactions in the General Journal. After that, look at Summary Data, where you can view your balance sheet and income statement. Furthermore, the Settings page will allow you to customize your balance sheet and income statement, as well as help you prepare for subsequent accounting files. Finally, the Home page offers you a quick way to jump to various points in the GridTracks document.

  • Regardless of whether you have watched the Quick Demo or the more in depth Pt. 1 and Pt. 2, Pt. 3 is for how to add Cash Sales Receipts to your General Journal Entries, as well as how to view them in the General Ledger:

Home

At the top of the Home page
Here you have access to creating a new file, opening a file, and opening a recently opened file. Please note that hitting the delete button by a recently opened file will not delete it, it will only remove it from the Recently Opened Files… list itself.
Bottom half of Home page — Quick Accounts View and Quick Journal View
At the lower half of the Home page, there is the Quick Accounts View, which allows you to quickly toggle to the Accounts Page. There is also the Quick Journal View, where you can quickly add a new transaction, edit a transaction, or toggle to the selected journal entry within the journal itself.
Task Steps
View Current Accounts

In Quick Accounts view, the accounts are subdivided into 6 different categories, being Assets, Liabilities, Expenses Revenues, O. Equity (DR), and O. Equity (CR). Note that O. Equity (DR) is a generic umbrella term for drawings and dividends.

At the top of each cateogry, there is the total account balance. Furthermore, in each account there is a starting value which is assigned at the beginning, with the current value being the current balance of an account. Clicking on the arrow will take you to the account in the Accounts page.

Change date in Quick Journal View

Clicking Filter Date date control will allow you to change the date of entries you wish to view in the Quick Journal View. Note that the range of dates is restricted to the dates of which there exist journal entries of that date.

Add Transaction in Quick Journal View

When you click the + button on the right hand side of the Quick Journal View, you have the option of creating a new journal transaction on either the day specifed by the Filter Date control, or create a new journal transaction on the current date. Either way, it will take you to the Add Transaction page.

Edit Transaction in Quick Journal View

If you have a journal transaction selected in Quick Journal View, pressing the pencil button on the right will take you to the Edit Transaction page to edit this particular transaction.

Toggle to entry in Journal page

By the same token as Editing Transaction, selecting a journal entry in Quick Journal View and hitting the toggle button on the far right will take you to that particular entry within the Journal page.
