About Me
Welcome to my site. My name is Dennis Hou and I am a recent graduate of the University of Toronto. I have a bachelor's degree in Biological Physics with a focus in biochemistry, along with a minor in Mathematics. For the future I am hoping to go into graduate school in biological physics or medical school (hopefully).
I developed this application because I wanted a personal project to work on that I thought would challenge me. It all start a long way back ago, while I was still in high school. I had taken an intro to Accounting course, and was thus intrigued by the whole concept of double‐entry bookkeeping. The technique of balancing seemed so elegant, and for a period I tried doing my own finances with this method in Microosft Excel. However, I noticed that the process of updating accounts, the balance sheet, and the income statement from entries in the General Journal could be better automated, and I got tired of doing the grunt work. For this reason, I decided to develop this application, whereby inputing journal entries in the General Journal, everything else is automated.

My Schizophrenic Experience
On a side note I want to mention that over 10 years ago, I was diagnosed for schizophrenia and was in the hospital for about a year and a half. It is one of my main motivations for wanting to go to medical school, as I want to be able to help as I was helped when I was hospitalized.
